Friends of the Library

Friends of the library believe that good library service is important to everyone. The Friends support the Johnson County Library by providing funds for physical improvements, special equipment, and materials not ordinarily covered in the annual budget.  The Friends hold several book sales throughout the year as well as assist with other fund raisers, such as the Library Auction, to increase available funds.  We serve as volunteers for special activities, Mother's  Day Tea for instance, and sponsor various program throughout the year.

Friends' Programs

■Books and Babies was started in 1995.  Each baby born in Johnson County receives a flannel book bag with a board book, their first library card, and a book suggestion list.
■Book sales are held several times a year in the Library's meeting room.
■Mother's Day Tea:  During the story hour prior to Mother's day, mothers are treated to tea and muffins while their children make a special gift.
■Summer reading programs for children, teens, & adults.  Friends help purchase craft supplies, snacks, prizes, and feature programs.
■Programs of general interest are arranged throughout the year.
